Master Mandarin

Master Mandarin is a newly launched immersion Mandarin educational program developed by Perfect English Training School in Changchun, Jilin, China. We believe that when experiential learning takes place in a relaxed but focused environment with intrinsically motivated students something magical happens, students begin to acquire language skills faster than if they just “sit, say and repeat” words and phrases. This is why many of our formal classes happen in the shops, restaurants and on the streets of Changchun where standard Mandarin is the language of the local people.

The MasterMandarin Summer Camp is held for five weeks during June and July at Perfect English's main school in downtown Changchun. Classrooms are newly redecorated with all of the facilities needed to ensure a positive learning environment. Each classroom is complete with multimedia capabilities, Internet, Large screen TVs DVD players and CD players.

Our teachers are professional Chinese teachers currently working as classroom teachers in both public and private schools in Changchun. While our teachers are fluent in English, they will only translate occasionally to clarify a word or to provide short explanations.

    Special features of MasterMandarin include:

  • 1. A teacher / student ratio of 1:5.
  • 2. Home stay – all students will live with a Chinese family for the duration of the camp and Mandarin will be the principle language of communication.
  • 3. The emphasis is on learning Mandarin in a truly immersion environment.
  • 4. Morning classes are focus on learning listening and speaking.
  • 5. Afternoon electives (calligraphy, Chinese cooking, watercolor painting, etc) are more relaxed but still taught in Mandarin. The minimum length of time to study any of these elective classes is one week.
  • 6. Two over-night trips to exotic locations in China where students will experience a China that most tourists miss while having an opportunity to use the Mandarin they have learned.
